Job Description
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Officer and the technical supervision of an ICT Officer at Sub/Branch/Regional office level.
The incumbent may play a supervisory role in overlooking the day-to-day activities of the Telecom operators in the offices in the area of coverage. H/She has working relationships with UNHCR staff members in the office and other offices within the country of assignment as well as with staff of UN agencies and other UNHCR partners within the zone of operation to exchange information and to provide assistance.
FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT.
Accountability
- IT and Telecoms incidents are resolved.
- The required/requested technical support is provided in a professional manner.
- The network (LAN) is properly maintained.
Responsibility
- Installs network cabling for local Area Networks. Perform all cable termination needed for Copper and fibre networks as per the standards.
- Support ICT unit installation of new released Cisco Network Equipment (wireless Access points, switches and video conference Equipment)
- Participates in planning computer network installations. Reads and understands the technical Drawings/Documentations.
- Performs major Network/Electric repairs and adjustments or coordinates repairs with external organizations.
- Maintains records and prepares documentation related to activities of the unit.
- Maintains inventory and purchases equipment and material in area of responsibility.
- Uses equipment such as a network analyser, memory tester, and a variety of electronic test equipment
- Coordinates repair work schedules with ICT and Administration for the purpose of minimizing disruption of services and/or inconvenience.
- Maintain and repair the electronic components and equipment used in any equipment or device that involves electricity.
- Assemble electrical systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical problems are encountered.
- Install or maintain electrical control systems.
