General Description:
Works in chemistry unit on chemistry machines to process chemistry tests
Specific Description:
• Performs, prints, reviews and files daily QC for Beckman CX9, Cobas
• Performs daily maintenance and priming to the unit devices
• Proper patient identification using the two identifiers used in DAFH; Patient name & medical number available on sample to be equivalent to those of manual order
• Prioritizes work orders to comply with time table for internal lab tests (Stat-Routine work-Urgent work)
• Records all samples data in the unit log books
• Performs manual procedures for tests that are not available on BECKMAN
• Processes all samples on BECKMAN, or Cobas
• Records all samples results in the unit log
• Reports critical values immediately to the attended lab registrar
• Daily samples storing at defined rack in the chemistry fridge
• Maintains effective communication with lab personnel, co-workers, patients and families
• Complies with policies and procedures regarding chemistry unit
• Complies with quality management requirement, infection control policies
• Revises unit inventory for used chemicals twice per month
• Prepares purchasing orders and ordering unit chemicals
• Contacts biomedical engineering department for equipment breakdown
• Prints the monthly QC of the chemistry machines
